The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has acted decisively to stop illegal construction in the Airoli division. Despite receiving notices from the NMMC's Anti-Encroachment Department, the concerned party failed to comply. As per the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and additional Commissioner Dr. Rahul Gethe, the illegal construction was partially demolished on 25th April 2025. A fine of INR 25,000 was imposed. The operation saw the involvement of NMMC officials and anti-encroachment police personnel, with the use of gas cutters and hammer tools.
In response to a failure to adhere to a notice issued by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's (NMMC) Anti-Encroachment Department, a strong action was taken against unauthorized construction in the Airoli area. This was done under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, along with additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Shri. Bhagwat Doifode.
The unauthorized construction was being carried out on Plot No. S-223, Sector-04, Airoli by Shri. Paridwal Kamlesh, without obtaining the necessary permissions from the NMMC. The NMMC had issued a notice to the concerned party under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, which mandates the removal of unauthorized constructions. However, as the concerned party failed to remove the construction voluntarily, the NMMC proceeded with demolition efforts on 25th April 2025. The construction was partially demolished, and a fine of INR 25,000 was imposed on the responsible party.
The enforcement team for this operation included the Assistant Commissioner and Division Officer of the Airoli division, Shri. Sunil Kathole, Junior Engineer Shri. Sandeep Mhatre, along with officers and staff from the Airoli division and anti-encroachment police personnel. To carry out the demolition, equipment such as a gas cutter and hammer, along with a team of 10 workers, were deployed.
The NMMC has announced that similar actions will continue in the future to curb unauthorized constructions in the city. Moving forward, similar actions are expected, as the NMMC remains focused on eliminating illegal constructions to preserve the city's planning and infrastructure integrity. This continued vigilance is critical for urban development in the region.
