The Odisha government is moving ahead with plans to build 100,000 houses under the second phase of its Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, a key rural housing initiative. This follows the completion of phase one, which saw 60,000 house orders being issued. With an allocation of INR 2,600 crore for the current financial year and INR 7,550 crore over the next three years, the government aims to construct a total of 500,000 houses. Officials have been instructed to identify eligible beneficiaries, including those affected by natural disasters and persons with disabilities, within the next two months.

In a recent directive, the state government emphasized the importance of identifying eligible beneficiaries for the new houses, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, Padma awardees, and victims of natural calamities. District Collectors and Block Development Officers have been given a two-month deadline to complete the beneficiary identification process. This targeted approach ensures that those most in need will benefit from the housing scheme, further reinforcing the state's commitment to social equity.
