Jamshedpur is undergoing a major urban transformation in 2025 with projects like the Mango Flyover, a 57-pillar bridge set for March completion, and a 10.5 km elevated corridor on NH-33 to ease traffic congestion. A new master plan is being developed to manage city growth, alongside a 500-acre affordable housing township under a state scheme. The Ranchi-Jamshedpur Expressway and the Dhalbhumgarh Airport are also progressing, aiming to boost regional connectivity. Jamshedpur, the industrial heart of Jharkhand, is facing a major development, the construction of the Mango Flyover, a 57-pillar bridge designed to alleviate traffic congestion in the Mango area. The project is progressing rapidly, with 32 pillars already under construction and 26 capped. A critical 120-foot-long, six-foot-high girder is being built directly over the Swarnarekha River, utilizing special cranes for placement. The flyover is expected to be completed by March 2025. Complementing this is the construction of a 10.5 km elevated corridor on NH-33, aimed at addressing persistent traffic congestion and frequent accidents on this vital route. The project officially commenced on January 20, 2025, and is expected to significantly improve traffic flow upon completion.
In the realm of urban planning, the Jamshedpur Master Plan is being developed to regulate urban expansion and ensure designated spaces for residential, commercial, and green zones. A comprehensive survey is being conducted, focusing on the company command area of the city, with a team of engineers and town planners from Tata UISL and JNAC assigned to the task. The plan aims to be implemented within six months.
Addressing the need for affordable housing, the Jharkhand State Housing Board is set to establish smart townships in eight key cities, including a 500-acre development in Jamshedpur. This initiative aims to provide affordable, safe, and modern housing for low and middle-income groups under a new state housing scheme.
Enhancing the city's transportation infrastructure, the Ranchi-Jamshedpur Expressway, a 220 km, four-lane expressway, is under development, aiming to improve connectivity between the two major cities and boost economic growth in the region.
Furthermore, the Dhalbhumgarh Airport project is progressing, with the state government recommending the diversion of 99.256 hectares of forest land for its development. The airport aims to enhance air connectivity for Jamshedpur and is expected to benefit the surrounding regions upon completion.
Collectively, these infrastructure projects signify Jamshedpur's commitment to sustainable urban development, aiming to transform the city into a modern, efficient, and livable urban center.
