The Ranchi railway station is being redeveloped with a central allocation of INR 4.44 billion, alongside upgrades at Hatia and Tatanagar. Affordable housing is being addressed with 1,008 modular homes under the Light House Project. Airport expansion and modernization will further boost connectivity and regional development.

Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, is undergoing a significant transformation in 2025, marked by a series of ambitious infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing urban living, boosting economic growth, and improving connectivity.

At the centre of this transformation is the Ranchi Smart City project, which is entering its final phase. The project encompasses a 647-acre greenfield development designed to accommodate 150,000 residents, featuring state-of-the-art amenities such as IT-enabled governance, scientific waste processing, and intelligent public transport systems. Pan-city improvements include the implementation of sensor-based street lighting across two 22-kilometer lanes, enhancing safety and energy efficiency.

In the realm of transportation, Ranchi is set to receive its first 10-lane road, a INR 301 crore project approved to connect major landmarks including Jagannathpur Temple, the High Court, and the CRPF camp. This development aims to alleviate traffic congestion and set a new benchmark for road infrastructure in the state.

Railway infrastructure is also witnessing substantial investment. The central government has allocated INR 4.44 billion for the redevelopment of Ranchi railway station, with the project expected to be completed by 2029. This initiative is part of a broader INR 7,302 crore investment in Jharkhand's railway infrastructure, which includes the redevelopment of Hatia and Tatanagar stations.

Addressing the need for affordable housing, the Light House Project in Dhurwa area has been inaugurated, delivering 1,008 affordable homes constructed using innovative 3D modular precast technology. This project exemplifies rapid, sustainable, and high-quality construction methods aimed at meeting the housing demands of the urban poor.

Furthermore, the redevelopment of Birsa Munda Airport is underway, with plans to expand the runway from 2,748 meters to 3,655 meters and upgrade terminal facilities to accommodate increased passenger traffic and larger aircraft. This expansion is poised to enhance air connectivity and support the region's economic growth.

Collectively, these infrastructure projects signify Ranchi's commitment to sustainable urban development, aiming to transform the city into a modern, efficient, and livable urban center.
