Tezpur is undergoing a INR 700 crore infrastructure revamp, blending modern development with cultural preservation. A new 3.04-km bridge over the Brahmaputra improves connectivity between Tezpur and Nagaon, while a INR 207.92 crore drinking water project boosts public health. The city is also enhancing urban spaces with the beautification of Borpukhuri Lake and the development of a sports complex at Hazarapar. In 2023, the Assam government inaugurated several projects to revitalize Tezpur's urban landscape. These include the beautification of Borpukhuri Lake, development of Chowk Bazar, and the creation of a garden at Litchu Pukhuri. An integrated sports complex at Hazarapar, featuring a waterfront and bird observatory tower, was also launched to promote recreational activities. Additionally, a new town hall at Parwa is under construction to serve as a cultural hub for the community.
To improve transportation infrastructure, a new bridge parallel to the existing Kolia Bhomora Setu over the Brahmaputra River has been completed. This 3.04 km bridge connects Nagaon district with Tezpur in Sonitpur district, facilitating smoother transit and reducing congestion.
In the power sector, the Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL) is constructing a new 132/33 kV grid substation in Tezpur. This project aims to enhance the city's electricity distribution and support future industrial and residential growth.
Healthcare facilities in Tezpur are also receiving attention. Under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF), the Assam government has allocated INR 207.92 crore for drinking water supply schemes in Tezpur, aiming to improve public health and sanitation.
As part of the Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative, the Assam government has announced plans to develop new industrial parks across multiple cities, including Tezpur. These parks, equipped with plug-and-play infrastructure, are intended to boost investment and industrial growth in the state. A INR 500 crore investment will be made in a phased manner to develop these industrial hubs.
