Bilaspur, a prominent city in Chhattisgarh, is undergoing a transformative phase with a series of infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing its energy capacity, transportation networks, and urban development.
A significant development is the initiation of the Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III by NTPC, with an investment of INR 9,791 crore. This 800 MW ultra-supercritical unit, located within the existing Sipat power complex, will elevate the total installed capacity to 3,780 MW, bolstering the region's energy infrastructure.
Additionally, the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) is commencing its first supercritical thermal power project, comprising two units of 660 MW each, with an investment exceeding INR 15,800 crore.
Bilaspur is set to become a central hub in the Raipur-Ranchi-Dhanbad Expressway, a 707 km corridor designed to connect industrial towns across Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The segment between Raipur and Bilaspur is undergoing expansion to a six-lane expressway, aiming to reduce travel time and promote economic activities along the corridor.
In the railway sector, several projects are underway, including the Bilaspur Urkura third line (105 km) and the Khodri Anuppur doubling with a flyover at Bilaspur (61.6 km), enhancing rail connectivity and capacity in the region.
The Arpa Riverfront Development Project is a transformative urban initiative in Bilaspur. With an estimated cost of INR 2,000 crore, the project aims to develop 653 hectares along the Arpa River into a mixed-use area featuring commercial, residential, and recreational spaces. The development includes constructing a 13.4 km retaining wall, bridges, roads, and walkways, significantly enhancing the city's urban landscape.
These multifaceted infrastructure projects are poised to redefine Bilaspur's economic and urban profile, positioning the city as a key player in Chhattisgarh's development trajectory.
