In a significant move to expedite land compensation, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated the issuance of reservation letters for 7% abadi (residential) plots to farmers at the time of land acquisition settlements. This approach ensures that farmers are informed about the exact location and size of their allotted plots during the acquisition process. A verification committee comprising officials like the deputy collector and tehsildar will oversee the scrutiny and finalization of these allotments. The final allotment letters are set to be dispatched within 90 days, with development work on the plots expected to conclude within eight months. This initiative aims to streamline the compensation process and address longstanding grievances related to delays in plot allotments.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has commenced the process of issuing reservation letters for 7% abadi plots to farmers during land acquisition settlements. This development ensures that farmers are immediately informed about the specific location and size of their allotted plots, enhancing transparency and reducing uncertainties.
Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA, mentioned that the final allotment letters would be provided within 90 days, and the development of these plots would be completed within eight months. To ensure a meticulous and timely allotment process, a verification committee has been established, comprising the deputy collector, project manager, law officer, the concerned OSD, and the tehsildar.
The plots, ranging from 120 sqm to 2,500 sqm, will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis in developed areas adjacent to the villages. Historically, land acquisition in the region has been executed either under the Land Acquisition Act or through direct mutual agreements. While the former is comprehensive and time-consuming, the latter, though quicker, has faced challenges, especially concerning delays in handing over the 7% abadi land to farmers.
In response to persistent demands from farmers for increased compensation, YEIDA has proposed offering 10% developed land instead of the existing 7%. This proposal has been forwarded to the state government for consideration. Previously, in Noida and Greater Noida, farmers received 5% and 6% abadi plots, respectively. YEIDA's current initiative aims to not only expedite the compensation process but also to address and resolve long standing grievances of the farming community.
The proposal to increase the abadi plot allocation from 7% to 10% further underscores YEIDA's commitment to equitable and just compensation for farmers. As these initiatives unfold, they are poised to set a precedent for land acquisition and compensation practices in the region.
