Synopsis

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) will soon implement a slot-based system for property-registration to streamline the process and reduce buyer inconvenience. Currently, buyers face delays and multiple visits, affecting both user experience and GDA revenue. Under the new system, buyers will apply online for a date and time slot after preparing documents as per a checklist, then visit the GDA office at the allotted time. GDA processes over 80 registries monthly and earned INR 312 crore in 2024-25 from property sales, its biggest revenue source. The upgraded property management portal will support the new system, launching in a few months.

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is preparing to introduce an online slot-based system for buyers. This initiative, aimed at improving convenience and efficiency, is modeled after existing appointment systems used for services like passport issuance and driving licence applications.

Currently, property buyers are required to visit the GDA office multiple times to complete the registration process. The procedure is not only time-consuming but also often leads to long queues and frustration, with some applicants even returning empty-handed after waiting for hours. Such inefficiencies have proven to be a major inconvenience for buyers and have negatively affected the Authority's revenue stream.

To address these issues, GDA will soon roll out a system that allows applicants to select a preferred date and time slot via its online portal. Buyers will first be required to compile all necessary documentation using a provided checklist. Once the slot is booked, they can visit the GDA office at the scheduled time to complete their registration, eliminating the need for multiple visits and reducing waiting time significantly.

The initiative is especially significant given the financial importance of property sales to the GDA. In the financial year 2024-25, the Authority generated a revenue of INR 312 crore through the sale and auction of residential and commercial plots, making it the largest contributor to its income.

On average, GDA handles over 80 property registrations every month, translating to approximately 11 registries each day. With such a high volume of transactions, the need for a more organized and buyer-friendly system has become increasingly apparent.

To support this change, the Authority has already begun upgrading its property management infrastructure on its official portal. The revamped system will be integrated with the new slot booking functionality and is expected to be fully operational in the coming months.

This digital transformation aligns with GDA's broader goal of enhancing transparency, improving service delivery, and fostering a more user-centric approach in property-related transactions across Ghaziabad.
