Synopsis

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has introduced the Abhay scheme, aimed at recovering outstanding water bill payments from its customers. The initiative provides a 50% discount on late fees and penalty amounts for all categories of water bill payers, including gram panchayats connected to the primary water channel between Morbe Dam and Kalamboli. The scheme is set to be implemented from 21 March 2025 to 31 March 2025, encouraging citizens to clear their dues within this timeframe. The NMMC has urged residents to take advantage of this opportunity to settle pending payments.

Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailash Shinde had announced that the Abhay scheme, which offers a 50% discount or relief on late fees and penalties for all categories of water bill payers, had been implemented by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) from 21 March 2025 to 31 March 2025. This scheme was aimed at recovering outstanding water bill payments from customers within the NMMC jurisdiction.

As per the announcement, a 50% relief on the late fees and penalty charges related to pending water payments was being provided to all types of water consumers within the NMMC area. In addition, gram panchayats situated along the main water supply channel between Morbe Dam and Kalamboli were also eligible to benefit from this initiative during this period.

The NMMC had made an appeal to its citizens to make the most of this Abhay scheme by settling their outstanding water bills before the scheme concluded earlier this week.
