Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, is undergoing rapid transformation through key infrastructure projects aimed at boosting urban living and economic growth. On March 9, 2025, 105 projects were launched in the Nellore Rural assembly constituency, part of 303 works to be completed in 60 days. Major initiatives include a four-lane highway (INR 3,541.89 crore), Nellore Airport (INR 368 crore), and expansion of thermal power plants. A Waste-to-Energy plant is also planned to enhance sustainability. The Nellore Railway Station is being redeveloped, and a greenfield airport near Dagadarthi is in progress. APIIC is promoting industrial growth through new parks and infrastructure, positioning Nellore as a regional hub for development and connectivity.

Nellore, a city in Andhra Pradesh, is witnessing a significant transformation through various infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing urban living and fostering economic growth. A landmark initiative in this development trajectory is the launch of 105 infrastructure projects in a single day on March 9, 2025, in the Nellore Rural assembly constituency.

These 105 projects are part of a broader plan encompassing 303 initiatives slated for completion within a 60-day timeframe. The projects span various sectors, including road construction, drainage systems, educational facilities, and healthcare centers, aiming to address critical infrastructure needs and improve public amenities. Such a concerted effort is unprecedented in the region and sets a benchmark for developmental activities across the state.

A significant development is the proposed four-lane highway connecting Madakalavaripalli Village to Guruvindapudi Village. With an investment of INR 3,541.89 crore, construction is slated to commence in May 2025 and conclude by April 2027. This project is anticipated to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.

In the aviation sector, the Nellore Airport near Dagadarthi is progressing, with Phase 1 construction underway at an estimated budget of INR 368 crore. The airport is designed to support cargo handling, passenger terminals, a single runway, and aircraft parking facilities, enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic development.

The energy sector is witnessing substantial growth with projects like the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station and the Meenakshi Energy Power Plant. The former, located near Krishnapatnam, has an installed capacity of 2,400 MW, with plans for expansion. The latter, a 1,000 MW plant, has undergone ownership changes and is poised to contribute significantly to the region's power supply.

In addition to these, Nellore is set to benefit from the development of a Waste-to-Energy facility. This project aims to convert municipal solid waste into renewable energy, addressing waste management challenges while contributing to sustainable energy production. The facility is expected to enhance environmental sustainability and provide a model for similar initiatives in other urban areas.

Furthermore, the redevelopment of the Nellore Railway Station is progressing, with 57% of the work completed as of October 2024. This project aims to transform the station into a modern facility, improving accessibility and amenities for travelers. The redevelopment includes the construction of framed structures, overhead water tanks, and the extension of subways, reflecting a comprehensive approach to upgrading transportation infrastructure. ?

Another significant development is the proposed greenfield airport near Dagadarthi, intended to serve the Nellore district. The airport is planned to be developed on 1,352 acres of land, aiming to improve regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth. The foundation stone was laid in January 2019, with ongoing efforts to achieve financial closure and commence construction.

Additionally, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) is actively involved in developing industrial parks and providing necessary infrastructure facilities, including factory sites and sheds, to promote industrial growth in the region. The APIIC's office in Nellore coordinates these efforts, facilitating economic development and employment opportunities.

These initiatives collectively represent a strategic effort to enhance Nellore's infrastructure, promote sustainable development, and improve the overall quality of life for its residents.
