Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to revolutionize land assessment by adopting drone technology as part of the national NAKSHA program. This initiative will create a precise 3D model of the city, enhancing land record accuracy and addressing property-related disputes. The project aims to provide property cards to owners, simplify financial transactions, and establish property rights for flat owners. Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is embarking on an innovative project to improve land assessment through drone technology. This initiative is part of a larger national program called NAKSHA, which aims to modernize land records across India. AMC Commissioner Dr. Sailesh Kumar Yadav emphasized that the NAKSHA project is designed to tackle problems such as fraud, unauthorized ownership changes, and property disputes. By providing each property owner with an official property card, the initiative will simplify financial transactions, including loan applications. This project will cover all 51 wards in Agartala, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of both public and private land resources.
Agartala was selected as one of 152 cities in India to participate in this pilot project. The aerial survey will not only modernize the existing land record system but also provide insights into current land use patterns. Dr. Yadav noted that previous land measurements were often inaccurate due to manual processes. With drones, the city aims to achieve greater efficiency and reliability in land assessments.
One significant benefit of this project is the establishment of property rights for flat owners in Agartala. Currently, many flat owners do not possess full ownership rights, which complicates land transactions. The new system will empower these owners, making it easier for them to prove their ownership and engage in property dealings. This change is expected to attract private investments, fostering development projects that can benefit the community.
The implementation of drone technology in land assessment reflects a growing trend in urban planning and management. Many cities worldwide are adopting similar methods to enhance their land records and improve governance.
