Synopsis

Trichy Corporation has simplified property tax payments by introducing a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) option, providing a convenient alternative to the previous net banking method via the Tamil Nadu Urban eSevai app. Residents can now pay property tax, water charges, and other fees directly from their mobile devices. This change aims to increase revenue collection before the financial year ends and enhance tax compliance. In addition to the UPI option, payments can still be made in person at tax collection offices across the city. The move supports the government's push for digital transactions and improved financial management.

Trichy Corporation has made it easier for property owners and residents to pay their taxes by introducing a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) option. This new feature allows taxpayers to make payments directly from their mobile devices, offering a convenient alternative to the previous method, which only accepted net banking through the Tamil Nadu Urban eSevai mobile application.

With the UPI option now available, residents can pay various taxes, including property tax, water charges, non-revenue taxes, underground drainage user fees, and professional tax. To use this service, residents need to register on the eSevai app by providing their mobile number and creating an account. Once registered, they can enter their assessment number to generate the bill amount and complete the payment easily.

This change is part of a broader initiative by the Trichy Corporation to enhance tax collection efficiency. Officials have stated that they aim to increase revenue collection, particularly for property taxes, before the end of the financial year in March. By expanding payment options, the corporation hopes to encourage timely payments and reduce outstanding dues.

In addition to the UPI option, residents can still visit tax collection offices located in all five zones of Trichy to settle their tax obligations in person. This dual approach caters to different preferences, ensuring that all residents have access to convenient payment methods.

The introduction of UPI payments aligns with the government's push for digital transactions, making it easier for citizens to engage with local authorities. As more people adopt digital payment methods, the Trichy Corporation is likely to see an increase in tax compliance, ultimately benefiting community services funded by these revenues.

As Trichy continues to modernize its payment systems, residents are encouraged to take advantage of these new options. The UPI payment feature not only simplifies the tax payment process but also supports the city's efforts to streamline operations and improve financial management.
