During the event, Avinash Katade, the general manager of NIT, took the time to listen to the concerns of the attendees. Many of the issues raised were related to the development of layouts under the jurisdiction of NIT and NMRDA, as well as matters concerning property regularization and lease agreements. This interaction highlights the ongoing challenges faced by residents in urban planning and infrastructure development in Nagpur.
One significant concern came from Ashok Mundhada, a representative of the Zingabai Takli area. He emphasized the need for development in their locality, which is home to around 400 to 500 plot owners. Despite having undergone regularization, the area still lacks essential services such as proper roads, sewage systems, and recreational spaces like gardens. Mundhada expressed frustration over the repeated requests for improvements, stating they have raised the issue multiple times. Now, officials have assured them about taking steps in the next two to three days. This response reflects a common sentiment among residents who feel their needs are often overlooked.
The Lokshahi Din is part of a broader initiative by local authorities to improve transparency and accountability in governance. By allowing citizens to speak directly with officials, the program aims to foster a sense of community involvement in local development. However, the low turnout at the event raises questions about public awareness and engagement in such initiatives. Local leaders and organizations may need to enhance their outreach efforts to ensure more citizens can participate and voice their concerns.
