The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has suspended map approvals for plots in Ansal's housing project, pending scrutiny of land records and government decisions. Additionally, LDA has filed a claim under the Insolvency Resolution Process (IRP) amid Ansal API's bankruptcy proceedings at the NCLT. The authority has also recommended cancelling Ansal's licence and taking over the incomplete project. With INR 432 crore in pending dues, the project faces scrutiny over land acquisition violations and infrastructure lapses. The government's final decision and investigations will determine the fate of the project and relief for affected residents.
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has announced the suspension of map approvals for plots in Ansal's housing project situated within the city. This decision is set to remain in force until the department completes its scrutiny of land records and related documentation, or until the government delivers a final verdict regarding the case.
In addition to this, the LDA has filed a claim under the Insolvency Resolution Process (IRP), coinciding with Ansal's ongoing bankruptcy proceedings being addressed by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The LDA has also recommended cancelling the licence of the Ansal API township and taking over the incomplete project for further development.
The project in question comprises around 1,000 plots. LDA's report highlights several violations by Ansal API, including incomplete infrastructure work and the failure to provide essential facilities to residents. LDA's dues of around INR 432 crore are pending on Ansal API, which includes development charges not paid by the developer along with the others.
The LDA's additional secretary, Gyanendra Verma, remarked that no new maps would be sanctioned as a review of the files had revealed numerous discrepancies in the land acquisition process. He noted that a high-level investigation was essential to ascertain how such a significant decision had been taken and on what basis it had been made.
Ansal had earlier been granted land acquisition rights along Shaheed Path on Sultanpur Road, spanning 3,500 acres, with the LDA acting as the nodal agency for the project.
The suspension of map approvals by the Lucknow Development Authority has cast uncertainty over the future of Ansal's housing project. The final decision by the government and outcomes of these investigations will be pivotal in determining the fate of the project and addressing the grievances of the affected parties.
