Nielsen, the global leader in audience measurement, data, and analytics, expanded its operations earlier this week by inaugurating new offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru. This initiative was aimed at driving growth and enhancing its technology innovation capabilities within India. The new offices, located in Goregaon, Mumbai, and Whitefield, Bengaluru, form part of Nielsen's broader strategy to strengthen its regional footprint, foster business development, and optimise operations.
The Mumbai office, leased from Oberoi Realty Limited, covers 1,50,000 sq. ft., whereas the Bengaluru office, leased from Chalet Hotels Limited, spans 1,36,000 sq. ft. Both locations have been designed to provide dynamic and flexible work environments. A focus has been placed on sustainability and employee wellness, incorporating energy-efficient systems, automatic lighting, and optimised water usage.
This expansion was in alignment with Nielsen's commitment to strengthening its research and development, sales, and operational capabilities. Karthik Rao, Chief Executive Officer of Nielsen, remarked that India's media market had been witnessing rapid growth, largely driven by the surge in digital consumption, evolving audience preferences, and advancements in data-driven insights. He stated that the decision to establish new offices in India stemmed from the country's immense business potential and access to a highly skilled talent pool, enabling the company to serve clients more effectively and drive innovation within an ever-evolving market.
He emphasised that Nielsen's commitment to India extended beyond growth, as the company was dedicated to fostering a vibrant ecosystem where talent, technology, and strategic alliances converge to shape the future of measurement and analytics. Through the establishment of strong partnerships, the goal was to drive innovation, enhance data-driven insights, and deliver greater value to businesses navigating an increasingly dynamic media landscape.
Further expansion plans include opening additional offices across India, in cities such as Gurgaon and Hyderabad. Nielsen also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Maharashtra at the World Economic Forum 2025. This agreement signified an investment of INR 450 crore into the state's IT and ITeS sectors. As part of this investment, the company intends to create 1,100 new jobs, with a focus on technical roles such as Artificial Intelligence Experts, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and other specialised technology positions.
Additionally, ahead of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Nielsen collaborated with JioStar to offer advanced analytics solutions for its OTT platform, JioHotstar. This partnership seeks to establish new benchmarks for effective campaign measurement in the media space.
