The Indore district administration has intensified its crackdown on land diversion tax defaulters, sealing properties of major offenders. Vidyut Mittal's office in Mhowgaon was sealed over INR 18 lakh unpaid tax, while Shobhit Shanti Niketan Farmhouse in Jhalaria faced similar action for INR 2 lakh dues. With a target of INR 120 crore for the financial year, only INR 45 crore has been collected so far, prompting stricter enforcement. Officials warn further property seizures if dues remain unpaid. This aggressive tax recovery drive reflects the administration's firm stance on compliance and revenue collection to meet fiscal goals.
The Indore district administration has taken strict action against property owners who failed to pay their land diversion tax. The office of coloniser Vidyut Mittal, located in Mhowgaon, was sealed due to an outstanding land diversion tax of approximately INR 18 lakh related to his Super City Colony project. According to SDM Rakesh Parmar, the office will remain sealed until the pending amount is fully paid.
In another case, a team led by Kanadiya tehsildar Ashok Parmar sealed the Shobhit Shanti Niketan Farmhouse in Jhalaria village. The property, owned by Chhaganlal, son of Bhagwan Lal, had an unpaid land diversion tax of around INR 2 lakh. Authorities took nearly two weeks to act on the matter, following a review meeting that highlighted a significant shortfall in tax collection. The administration had only managed to recover INR 45 crore so far, falling short of its targeted INR 120 crore revenue collection for the financial year.
Officials have intensified efforts to meet this target, directing SDMs from all ten tehsils to identify major defaulters and provide them with a final opportunity to clear their dues. If payments are not made, stringent actions, including sealing properties, will continue. ADM Nisha Damor emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that the administration is committed to ensuring compliance and boosting revenue.
The district administration had set the same target of INR 120 crore in the previous financial year but was only able to generate around INR 48 crore. With this year's revenue collection still falling behind, authorities have decided to adopt stricter measures against tax defaulters. The crackdown aims to recover pending dues efficiently and prevent further evasion.
This move reflects the administration's firm stance on tax compliance and highlights the urgency to bridge the revenue gap. With tax evasion hampering financial goals, the district authorities are determined to enforce stricter regulations and penalize defaulters accordingly.
