The Punjab government has purchased 167 flats in Purab Premium Apartments, Sector-88, Mohali, to provide accommodation for IAS, IPS, PPS, and other administrative officers. These apartments are categorised based on officers' rankings, and rent will be paid by the occupants. The total cost of the purchase is INR 1,00,48,50,000, with an initial payment of INR 38,85,42,000 already made, including additional charges. The remaining amount can be paid either in a lump sum within 60 days or through eight half-yearly installments with interest. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain confirmed the allotment and noted that the initiative addresses a long-pending housing demand from officials.
The Punjab government has acquired 167 flats in Purab Premium Apartments, Sector-88, Mohali, to accommodate IAS, IPS, PPS, and other administrative officers posted in the region. The flats, divided into Type-1, Type-2, and Type-3 categories, will be allocated according to the officers' ranks. The officers will be responsible for paying rent for these accommodations. The total cost of the flats is INR 1,00,48,50,000, of which INR 38,85,42,000, including 2% cancer cess and 2% Purab Premium Apartment Corpus Fund, has already been paid to the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA). The remaining balance can be paid within 60 days without interest or in eight half-yearly installments at an annual interest rate of 9.5%.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain stated that the allotment process for the apartments, approved earlier this year, is in line with the provisions of the Punjab Regional & Town Planning & Development Act, 1995, and its subsequent amendments. She added that the Type-2 and Type-3 flats have already been handed over for allotment.
During a recent visit to the apartments, Jain reviewed the readiness of the flats and directed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to ensure all necessary requisitions were met. She mentioned that the inspection team included officials from civil and electrical wings, as well as water supply and sanitation departments.
Jain highlighted that the acquisition addresses a long-standing demand for government housing in Mohali. Some flats will be allocated to district officials, while others will be distributed by the Department of General Administration of the Punjab government.
This initiative by the Punjab government signifies a major step toward resolving the housing issues faced by administrative officials in Mohali. By acquiring premium apartments in a prime locality, the government is addressing long-pending demands while ensuring high-quality accommodation for its officers. The detailed payment options and inspection processes highlight the government's commitment to transparency and efficiency.
