The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) is boosting communication with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) through meetings on January 9 and 10, targeting Zones 1 and 2, with similar gatherings planned for other zones. MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg aims to understand and address residents' challenges, complementing this initiative with "samadhan camps" for resolving property tax and infrastructure complaints on the spot. Emphasizing swift action, Garg has directed zonal officers to inspect and address issues like sewer overflow promptly. These efforts highlight MCG's commitment to fostering community dialogue and improving service delivery, setting a model for citizen-centric urban governance.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) is taking steps to improve communication with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to address the concerns of citizens more effectively. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to foster better relationships between the local government and the community.
MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg announced a series of meetings scheduled for January 9 and 10, aimed at gathering feedback from RWAs in different zones. The first meeting for Zone 1 will take place at the Sector 4 community center, while Zone 2 will meet at the Freedom Fighter District Council Building in Civil Lines. Meetings for Zones 3 and 4 will be organized shortly. Garg emphasized that these gatherings are designed to understand the challenges residents face and to work collaboratively on solutions.
In addition to the meetings, the MCG is also conducting samadhan camps, which are designed to address residents' complaints directly. During a recent camp held at the corporation office in Sector 34, Garg addressed twelve complaints, resolving five related to property tax data on the spot. This hands-on approach aims to ensure that residents do not have to make unnecessary visits to the office for simple corrections.
Garg has urged zonal taxation officers to act swiftly on complaints regarding property tax discrepancies and to personally inspect issues such as sewer overflow and water line leaks. He stressed the importance of setting timelines for resolving these complaints and keeping residents informed about the progress. The goal is to provide timely solutions and improve the overall quality of life for Gurugram's residents.
This initiative comes at a time when many cities are looking to enhance citizen engagement through technology and community involvement. By prioritizing communication with RWAs, the MCG is not only addressing immediate concerns but also building a framework for ongoing dialogue. This approach could serve as a model for other municipalities aiming to strengthen their connection with residents and improve service delivery.
As the MCG continues to roll out these initiatives, residents are encouraged to participate actively in the upcoming meetings and share their concerns. By working together, the MCG and the community can create a more responsive and effective local government that meets the needs of all citizens.
