Tidel Park Limited, a joint venture between Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), has made a payment of INR 12.8 crore to the Trichy corporation to begin the preliminary construction work for its upcoming park in Panjapur. This payment will facilitate the relocation of two underground drainage (UGD) pipelines passing through the site. With construction for phase I set to begin by the end of January, the park is expected to provide 5.5 lakh square feet IT office space and create over 5,000 jobs.
Tidel Park Limited, a state-backed joint venture between TIDCO (Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation) and ELCOT (Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu), has recently paid INR 12.8 crore to the Trichy corporation. This payment is aimed at facilitating the preparation of the land in Panjapur for the park's construction, set to begin by the end of January. The funds are specifically for relocating two underground drainage (UGD) pipelines that run through the site earmarked for the park.
Earlier this month, Tidel floated a tender worth INR 415 crore for the construction of phase I, which will include premium IT office space. A source from Tidel confirmed that preliminary work will begin soon after the relocation of the pipelines. This will allow for the construction of the first phase of the park, which will cover 5.5 lakh square feet across six floors.
The site for the park, located on 14.1 acres along the Trichy-Madurai National Highway (NH), is strategically positioned next to the upcoming Integrated Bus Terminus (IBT). However, two major UGD lines currently pass through the site, carrying sewage from pumping stations at Anna Stadium and Othakkadai. The Tidel management has coordinated with the Trichy corporation to have these lines moved to ensure smooth progress.
The sewage pipeline relocation will involve shifting 1,730 meters of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) pipelines outside the park's site. This work is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. Additionally, the existing sewage treatment plant (STP) and its anaerobic ponds, which are near the site, will be dismantled before the park's commissioning by 2026.
Once completed, the park's first phase will span six floors, potentially providing employment for more than 5,000 people. The entire construction process is expected to take approximately 18 months. Meanwhile, the ongoing construction of a new, modern 100 million litres per day (mld) STP at Panjapur will further streamline the area's sewage management.
Tidel Park's investment in Trichy is a significant step towards boosting the region's IT infrastructure and economy. With a robust plan for relocating essential utilities and establishing a state-of-the-art park, the project is expected to create thousands of jobs and foster growth in the tech sector. As preliminary work progresses smoothly, Tidel's commitment to completing the park in phases, with careful attention to infrastructure needs, promises to bring long-term benefits to the local community and economy.
