CIDCO has launched the "My Preferred CIDCO Home" scheme, offering 26,000 affordable homes in nine Navi Mumbai locations, including Vashi and Kharghar. Targeting economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG), the initiative aligns with PMAY's "Housing for All" mission. Homes are priced between INR 25-97 lakh, catering to households earning up to INR 6 lakh annually. With the final application deadline on January 10, CIDCO expects a surge in interest following the disclosure of pricing details. This scheme not only addresses Navi Mumbai's housing demand but also supports sustainable urban growth for the region's expanding population.
City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) has rolled out an affordable housing scheme named "My Preferred CIDCO Home," offering 26,000 houses across various locations in Navi Mumbai. This initiative is designed to support economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG) in securing affordable housing. Due to high demand, the application deadline has been extended multiple times, with the final date set for January 10.
The housing projects are located in nine key areas of Navi Mumbai, including Vashi, Kharghar, and Panvel. This strategic distribution aims to provide accessible housing options in well-connected neighborhoods. CIDCO's initiative is part of a broader effort to promote affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a government program aimed at providing homes for all.
The houses are divided into two categories: EWS and LIG. For the EWS category, which is for individuals with an annual income of up to INR 6 lakh, prices range from INR 25 lakh to INR 48 lakh. Meanwhile, the LIG category, targeting those with incomes above INR 6 lakh, sees prices between INR 34 lakh and INR 97 lakh. This pricing structure aims to make home ownership more attainable for a larger segment of the population.
CIDCO officials have expressed optimism about the response to the scheme now that the pricing details are public. Previously, many potential applicants were hesitant to apply without knowing the costs. With the prices now disclosed, CIDCO expects a significant increase in applications as more people feel encouraged to take part in this housing opportunity.
In addition to providing affordable homes, this scheme also addresses the growing demand for housing in Navi Mumbai, which has seen rapid urbanization and population growth. The availability of well-priced homes in established neighborhoods can help alleviate some of the housing shortages faced by low-income families in the region.
As the deadline approaches, interested individuals are encouraged to apply online to secure their chance at affordable housing. This initiative not only aims to improve living conditions but also contributes to the overall development of Navi Mumbai as a sustainable urban hub.
