Thane is witnessing rapid development with the successful implementation of the cluster scheme by the state government. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde urged the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) to take the lead in transforming Thane into the top city in the country. The government is providing various incentives to developers, and Mr. Shinde encouraged them to contribute towards fulfilling the dream of affordable housing for the common man. The 22nd CREDAI-MCHI property exhibition was inaugurated in Thane, bringing together key officials and industry leaders to discuss the city's infrastructural progress, including major projects like Metro lines and tunnel constructions. Plans for water security and sustainable urban growth were also highlighted.
The successful execution of the cluster scheme in Thane, supported by the state government, is paving the way for the city's transformation into a premier urban centre. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, speaking at an event, called upon the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) to spearhead efforts to establish Thane as the leading city in the country. He also acknowledged the state government's ongoing support for developers and encouraged their cooperation in achieving affordable housing for the common citizens of Thane.
The 22nd property exhibition organised by CREDAI-MCHI at the Highland Maidan in Thane, was inaugurated by Mr. Shinde. During the event, he was joined by key dignitaries, including State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, District Collector Ashok Shingare, MMRDA Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal, CREDAI-MCHI President Dominic Rommel, past President and State Government Friend President Ajay Ashar, CREDAI-MCHI Thane President Jitendra Mehta, and State Bank Deputy General Manager Surjit Tripathi.
Mr. Shinde, reflecting on his association with the exhibition over the years, noted its steady progress and the role it plays in Thane's urban development. He emphasised the city's natural beauty and its unique identity as the 'City of Lakes'. However, he also highlighted the growing challenge of global warming and stressed the importance of sustainable development. He urged developers to actively contribute towards environmental conservation and collaborate with the municipal corporation to drive Thane's progress.
Significant infrastructure projects, valued between INR 70,000 to 80,000 crore, have been executed within the Thane Municipal Corporation limits in the past two and a half years. These include the Borivali Tunnel, Metro-4, and Metro-9, all aimed at resolving traffic congestion and reinforcing Thane's position as a model of development. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik provided further insights into the city's developmental trajectory, while Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao elaborated on ongoing projects. He projected that by 2030, Thane would have a distinct identity, with a robust water supply plan ensuring sustainability until 2055. This year alone, an additional 100 million litres of water supply was secured, with another 100 million litres expected next year. Furthermore, additional resources from Surya Dam, along with ongoing construction of Shai and Kalu Dams, will ensure that Thane does not face water shortages in the future.
Ajay Ashar, President of 'Mitra', underscored Thane's affordability compared to Mumbai and attributed its rapid development to the efforts undertaken by the government. Meanwhile, CREDAI-MCHI Thane President Jitendra Mehta expressed satisfaction with the state government's initiatives and called for maintaining the current ready reckoner rates to sustain the momentum of development.
Thane's transformation into a modern, well-planned city is progressing rapidly, thanks to the successful cluster scheme and continuous infrastructure developments. The government's support, along with the proactive involvement of developers, is driving economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for residents. With substantial investments in transport, water security, and urban planning, the city is well-positioned to emerge as a model of sustainable development in the coming years. The emphasis on affordability and environmental conservation further strengthens its appeal, ensuring that Thane remains a prime real estate destination in the region.
