Notices were issued to 80 of these building owners, requiring them to submit valid permissions and construction documents to the MC within 15 days, or face the demolition of their structures. These notices were sent directly from the MC commissioner to the visible offenders.

In addition to this, the mayor held an emergency meeting regarding unauthorized shops in villages under the MC's jurisdiction. Attendees included the MC commissioner, officials from the building branch, and fire department representatives. This meeting led to the issuance of the notices. During the meeting, Mayor Sidhu clarified that while three-storey buildings are sanctioned in the villages, several have been constructed with more than three storeys, violating regulations. He highlighted that unauthorized buildings exist both inside and outside the designated red zones in these villages, and action will be taken against these violations.

The mayor also noted that the building branch had reported an ongoing survey of all Mohali villages, confirming that the construction of buildings without approved plans had been halted. The MC?s engineering department is currently assessing the structural integrity of buildings in the red zones. Any buildings deemed structurally unsafe will be addressed accordingly. If owners fail to comply with the regulations, the MC will proceed independently, with all associated costs recovered from the building owners. The mayor emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone violating the rules.
