The Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district is advancing its tribal housing project under the PM Jan Man scheme, with 23,766 out of 25,578 houses sanctioned and 226 already completed. The project, set for completion by March 2026, aims to uplift Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG). Additionally, 576 roads and 1,660 water supply connections are planned under Jal Jeevan Mission, with 257 villages equipped so far. New Anganwadi centres and multi-purpose community hubs are also being established to improve access to education, healthcare, and essential services for tribal communities in the region.
The Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district is making significant strides in improving housing and infrastructure for its tribal communities, particularly those belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG). During a recent conference in New Delhi, Collector Dinesh Kumar shared insights into the progress of this initiative. He highlighted that out of the 25,578 houses required for PVTG households, 23,766 have already been sanctioned. Currently, 226 houses have been completed, while construction on the remaining homes is underway. The collector acknowledged the challenges faced during construction, such as logistical issues and the need for skilled labor, but assured that measures are being put in place to address these obstacles. In addition to housing, the district is focusing on improving road connectivity. The plan includes the construction of 576 roads, with 146 roads already sanctioned across 178 residential areas. Improved road access is expected to enhance transportation and connectivity for tribal communities, facilitating better access to markets, education, and healthcare services.
The government is also prioritizing the establishment of Anganwadi centres, which are crucial for early childhood education and nutrition. Collector Kumar announced the sanctioning of new buildings for 28 Anganwadi centres that were previously operating from rented spaces. Furthermore, 61 new centres have been approved, aiming to provide better support for young children and their families in the region.
Water supply is another critical area of focus. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, new water connections have been approved for 1,660 PVTG villages. So far, 257 villages have been equipped with full drinking water facilities, significantly improving the quality of life for residents. Access to clean water is essential for health and sanitation, particularly in rural areas. Moreover, the district has sanctioned the construction of 59 multi-purpose centres, with work already started on 57 of them. These centres are designed to serve as community hubs, providing various services and resources to tribal populations. As of now, 27 of these centres have been completed, further contributing to the overall development of the region.
The initiatives outlined by Collector Dinesh Kumar reflect a comprehensive approach to uplift the tribal communities in Alluri Sitharama Raju district. By addressing housing, road connectivity, education, and water supply, the government aims to create a more sustainable and supportive environment for these vulnerable populations. As the projects progress, the district is hopeful for a positive transformation in the living conditions and overall well-being of its tribal residents. This concerted effort highlights the importance of targeted government programs in reaching marginalized communities and ensuring their access to basic services and infrastructure. The successful implementation of these initiatives could serve as a model for similar efforts across other regions in India.
