The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) carried out a demolition drive in Zone 13, removing two illegal constructions. The drive included the demolition of a 3,000 square feet building in Vishnupuri and a 1,500 square feet hostel in Nanak Palace Colony. IMC officials had previously served notices to the building owners to remove the illegal portions, but the owners failed to comply, prompting the demolition. A separate operation in Tulsi Nagar, aimed at enhancing traffic flow, saw the removal of illegal footpath constructions in front of approximately 50 shops. The action is expected to improve the urban environment and residents' quality of life.
The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) recently undertook a major demolition operation in Zone 13, in line with the instructions of IMC Commissioner Shivam Verma. The demolition drive targeted two illegal constructions: a 3,000 square feet structure in the minimum open space (MOS) at 68 Vishnupuri, and a 1,500 square feet illegal hostel at 37 Nanak Palace Colony. The operation was carried out by IMC's removal team after the owners of both buildings failed to comply with earlier notices, which had instructed them to take down the illegal portions of their properties. IMC Deputy Commissioner Lata Agrawal, who supervised the drive, clarified that both property owners were given formal notices instructing them to remove the illegal structures themselves. However, as the owners did not adhere to the instructions, the corporation took immediate action to demolish the illegal portions.
In addition to the demolition activities, a separate operation was conducted in the Tulsi Nagar area, aimed at improving traffic management and ensuring better urban planning. This initiative involved a joint team of district administration officials, the police, and the IMC, led by SDM Kalyani Pandey. During the operation, illegal footpath constructions were removed from in front of approximately 50 shops, extending from the nullah to the Gurudwara. The removal of these encroachments led to the seizure of four truckloads of goods. The shopkeepers involved in the encroachments were warned not to repeat such actions in the future.
Senior administrative officials emphasised that these combined efforts would significantly contribute to the improvement of the city's overall urban landscape. The demolition of illegal buildings and the removal of encroachments are expected to make public spaces safer and more accessible, while also enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Indore. These measures are designed to improve the quality of life for residents and to support the city's ongoing development and growth.
