Synopsis

Telangana's Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, launched a mobile app to streamline the verification process for the 'Indiramma' housing scheme, which provides INR 5 lakh assistance for house construction. The app enables home visits by officials to collect details, ensuring transparency and reducing corruption. Beneficiaries can design homes based on land and financial capacity. The government plans to construct 25 lakh houses in five years, prioritizing the "poorest of the poor," including Dalits, Adivasis, sanitation workers, and persons with disabilities. AI technology will prevent misuse, and additional support will be provided to Adivasis in ITDA regions. Anniversary celebrations were also announced.

Telangana's Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, recently launched a mobile application to verify the applications received for house construction under the government's 'Indiramma' housing scheme for the poor. This initiative aims to provide INR 5 lakh in assistance to eligible beneficiaries. Since taking office a year ago, the government has received numerous applications for housing construction.

To prevent corruption in the selection process and reduce the need for applicants to visit government offices, the government has opted for a home verification process. Government personnel will visit applicants' homes to record details such as financial status, plot information, and family particulars on the app.

The government has announced that it will not impose a fixed design for the houses; instead, beneficiaries will be free to construct homes according to their preferences, depending on their financial situation and available land size.

In a recent statement, Reddy revealed that the government plans to build 25 lakh houses under the scheme over the next five years. He highlighted that technology, including Artificial Intelligence, would be used to ensure transparency and avoid benefits being misallocated to ineligible individuals.

Reddy emphasised that the "poorest of the poor" would be given priority in the beneficiary selection process. He mentioned that Dalits, Adivasis, Scheduled Tribes, agricultural workers, sanitation workers, persons with disabilities, and transgender individuals would be given special attention under the scheme. Furthermore, Adivasis living in areas under the jurisdiction of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) would receive additional consideration.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar would extend invitations to K Chandrasekhar Rao, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, and Bandi Sanjay Kumar for the current government's first anniversary celebrations, which would take place near the Secretariat complex in the coming days.
