The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has launched special camps to assist eligible individuals under the 'Sasta Ghar' scheme, offering homes at a 25% discount to groups such as construction workers, auto and taxi drivers, women, ex-servicemen, and SC/ST individuals. The initiative, backed by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, aims to improve housing access for vulnerable populations. Under the 'Sasta Ghar' scheme, certain categories of individuals can purchase homes at a 25% discount. The targeted beneficiaries include construction workers, auto and taxi drivers, women, ex-servicemen, and individuals from scheduled caste and scheduled tribe backgrounds. The DDA's goal is to make housing more accessible to those who may struggle to afford it, particularly focusing on workers and those living in temporary accommodations.
To facilitate this process, the DDA has organized outreach efforts in collaboration with various government departments. Special camps will be set up at construction sites managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), and other governmental agencies. These camps are designed to provide information and assistance to potential applicants, ensuring they understand the eligibility criteria and application process.
In addition to the housing scheme, the Rajya Sainik Board will conduct outreach programs specifically for ex-servicemen and their families, including 'Vir Nari' (widows of soldiers) and gallantry award recipients. The transport department will also play a role by organizing awareness campaigns for auto and taxi drivers, ensuring they are informed about the benefits available under the scheme.
Moreover, the Delhi Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation will assist applicants from SC/ST communities by providing loan facilities. Special camps will also be held for women, street vendors, and individuals with disabilities, ensuring that all eligible groups receive the necessary support to apply for the housing scheme.
The DDA has committed to having its officials present at each camp, equipped with detailed information about the scheme and the application forms. This hands-on approach aims to streamline the application process and address any questions potential beneficiaries may have. The camps began operations over the weekend, and the various departments involved have been instructed to report on their outreach efforts within the next two weeks.
This initiative reflects the government's commitment to addressing housing shortages and improving living conditions for vulnerable populations in Delhi. By bringing services directly to the communities, the DDA hopes to ensure that more individuals can benefit from affordable housing opportunities, ultimately contributing to the overall development of the city.
