Following the issuance of notices, the civic body successfully collected INR 43.25 lakh in overdue property taxes. To avoid the sealing of their properties, some defaulters submitted advance cheques totaling INR 45 lakh.
In a bid to enforce compliance, the property tax department of AMC East Zone has begun implementing stricter measures, placing liens on the revenue records of defaulters who have failed to respond to multiple notices. Currently, liens have been recorded against 176 property tax defaulters in the East Zone. Over the last two days, officials placed liens on 16 properties, with proceedings underway for an additional 84 properties.
In a separate initiative, the solid waste management department of AMC took action in the West Zone, sealing two units for violating public littering regulations.
The actions taken by the AMC highlight a firm commitment to enforcing property tax compliance and maintaining public cleanliness in Ahmedabad. By sealing properties and placing liens on defaulters, the civic body aims to recover overdue taxes while encouraging accountability among property owners. As these measures continue, they not only bolster the city's revenue but also promote a more orderly and responsible community.
