The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has carried out a major demolition and anti-encroachment operation to reclaim approximately 25 acres of land near the upcoming Noida International Airport, officials said. The action targeted unauthorised housing colonies and illegally plotted land in villages such as Dayanatpur and Sabota Mustafabad that were being marketed to buyers as airport townships without approvals. Demolition teams cleared a roughly 12-acre colony and adjoining parcels, and also removed encroachments on a key access road leading to the airport. YEIDA officers, supported by police and revenue officials, were present during the drive and said first information reports will be registered against illegal developers. The reclaimed land is estimated to be worth around INR 400 crore and forms part of the authority's broader crackdown against fraudulent real estate activities in its notified area as infrastructure development around the airport advances.Read more

Central public sector undertakings under the power ministry have planned capital expenditure of over INR 1 trillion for FY27, marking a rise of nearly 19 per cent from the revised estimates of the current year. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) conducted a special enforcement drive against the use of single-use plastic earlier this month, resulting in the recovery of INR 65,000 in penalties and the seizure of around 18 kg of plastic carry bags within four days. The drive was undertaken between January 22 and January 28 in line with directives issued by the Central and Maharashtra Pollution Control Boards. Inspections were carried out across all ward offices under the guidance of the civic administration, with action taken against multiple commercial establishments found violating the plastic ban. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has started the third phase of the Green Corridor, covering around 5 km between Pipraghat and Shaheed Path, aimed at easing traffic between the Cantonment area and main roads toward Ayodhya and Kanpur. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has intensified air quality monitoring across approximately 140 construction sites as part of broader preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, city officials said. In line with the corporation's Good Construction Practices Policy, large sites with a built-up area exceeding 20,000 sq m are being equipped with dust sensors, air quality display boards and CCTV cameras, and monitored regularly to curb pollution from construction activity. The move forms part of a data-driven strategy to reduce particulate emissions and improve ambient air quality, especially at identified pollution hotspots. HBL Engineering Limited has received an INR 575 crore order from the Integral Coach Factory for supplying and commissioning on-board equipment for the Kavach automatic train protection system, Version 4.0. The contract will be executed within India over a 12-month period. Kavach is an indigenous safety system aimed at preventing collisions and overspeeding on the rail network. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is advancing the second phase of the four-lane Prayagraj Inner Ring Road, following approval of the preliminary Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Covering 41.662 km from Madhopur near NH19 in Soraon tehsil to Amiliya in Karchana tehsil, the project will pass through 41 villages. The Delhi High Court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to carry out a detailed survey of all buildings around notified heritage sites to ensure compliance with sanctioned plans and construction norms. V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) in Tuticorin has reported a 6 per cent year-to-date increase in overall cargo handling for the current financial year, driven by robust growth in container, liquid and dry bulk segments. The port handled a record volume in January, with total cargo throughput and container traffic both posting all-time highs. Container handling in particular set new monthly records, supported by strong export and import shipments, improved terminal productivity and enhanced rail and road connectivity. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has undertaken a demolition drive against unauthorised constructions in the Belapur division, following directions from Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde. Acting under the supervision of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the encroachment department carried out removal action on multiple illegal structures after the concerned parties failed to comply with notices issued under provisions of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act. The drive covered residential and temporary structures across Belapur village, CBD Belapur and adjoining areas.
