The government has rolled out an upgraded version of its logistics data bank, allowing real-time tracking of export containers at sea and domestic trucks on road and rail networks. Developed by NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDSL), the system integrates multiple transport modes, providing a live container heatmap and multi-modal visibility. Officials say this will improve supply chain efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and enhance India's competitiveness in global trade. Balmer Lawrie is positioning its logistics vertical to become the top revenue contributor by 2030, expected to account for 45-50 per cent of total revenue, projected at INR 6,000 crore. GMR Airports has set up GMR Cargo and Logistics Ltd as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to develop and manage the upcoming Cargo City at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The project has been awarded by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), a subsidiary of GMR. The SPV has been incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary with a paid-up capital of INR 10,00,00,000.
