Indirapuram residents anticipate civic improvements amid GDA-GMC agreement

Indirapuram has been grappling with poor civic amenities due to an elongated deadlock between the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) over the handover process. However, there are signs of resolution as a joint committee has been formed to assess the town's condition and determine the cost for the handover. With the final survey nearing completion, the handover could take place by July's end, paving the way for the release of development funds and improvements in infrastructure like roads, drainage, and garbage management.Read more

Project to connect Gokhale Bridge with Barfiwala Flyover nears completion

Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will complete the connection of the CD Barfiwala Flyover's north-side arm with the refurbished Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge by mid-July, costing INR 8 crore. Based on IIT Bombay and VJTI recommendations, the bridges are aligned by raising spans. VJTI's report suggested raising four spans, while IIT recommended only two. Initial work started only within 90 days, targeting completion by the early of July. The Barfiwala Flyover, built in 2008, was misaligned with the higher Gokhale Bridge, refurbished in the February of 2023. BMC commissioner Bhushan Gagrani also plans to connect the south-side arm at Vile Parle.Read more

GNIDA to open new exhibition-cum-convention centre and cargo terminal

GNIDA is set to open an exhibition-cum-convention centre in Sector Chi in a planned city 45 km away from Delhi. The convention centre will also facilitate hospitality and hotel facilities for visitors and exhibitors. According to officials, with the first phase of Noida International Airport to be unveiled in December, demand for such a facility will increase. In the same meeting, the authority approved the construction of a Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal in Dadri, for logistics and handling of rail cargos. NHAI targets INR 20,000 crore via InVIT in FY25

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) aims to raise INR 20,000 crore this financial year through highway monetisation for 2024-25. They plan to monetise 33 highway stretches spanning 2,741 km via InvIT and Toll Operate Transfer, targeting a total of INR 54,000 crore, their highest annual goal. NHAI's past success includes raising INR 38,334 crore last year. Anaimalai TBM achieves breakthrough in Chennai metro's 116.1km expansion

In Chennai, a tunnel boring machine named Anaimalai completed a 925-metre-long tunnel between Ayanavaram and Otteri metro stations, achieving a breakthrough earlier this month as part of the 116.1km phase-2 project. The tunnelling began on October 23, 2023. CMRL managing director M A Siddique and other officials attended the event. This stretch is part of the 9km underground section on the 45.4km corridor-3, running from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri Sipcot. Seven tunnel boring machines are deployed in this stretch, with a total of 23 machines to be used throughout the phase-2 project.Read more

YEIDA plans new city development near Noida International Airport with INR 63,000 crore investment

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) plans to develop a new city on 6,065 hectares of land acquired from 40 nearby villages over the next two years. The authority aims to spend INR 63,000 crore to build infrastructure like roads, parks, utilities across sectors. A budget of INR 14,000 crore has been set aside for land acquisition. The new city will have sectors dedicated to various countries and industries such as a Fintech City and industrial parks for EV, plastics and more. YEIDA is also planning to revise its e-auction policy for land allotment and project contracts, whereby the auction or tender will be cancelled if only one bidder remains after the third round.Read more

Central Government approves Delhi metro"s Red Line extension project
