Retail space leasing across India's top eight cities is projected to rise by about 15 per cent this year to nearly 9 million sq ft, supported by fresh supply and sustained retailer demand, according to Cushman & Wakefield. Both high-street locations and shopping malls have witnessed higher absorption, with malls seeing a sharper jump. Fortis Healthcare has agreed to acquire People Tree Hospital in Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru, for INR 4.3 billion, strengthening its presence in South India. The acquisition will be carried out through its wholly owned subsidiary, International Hospital, by purchasing 100% of TMI Healthcare, which operates the hospital. Along with the takeover, Fortis plans to invest about INR 4.1 billion over the next three years to expand and upgrade the facility. The Centre is moving ahead with the development of PM MITRA parks as large, integrated textile manufacturing hubs, with detailed project reports worth about INR 5,567 crore completed for three proposed locations. These include greenfield parks in Lucknow, Kalaburagi and Navsari, each spread over more than 1,000 acres. The projects are being planned under a public-private partnership model to attract master developers for design, construction, financing and operations. The PM MITRA scheme aims to strengthen India's textile value chain by creating scale, improving infrastructure and reducing logistics costs.
