Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Jaipur Metro Phase-II, clearing the way for its submission to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for final approval. Once the Centre grants its clearance, construction is expected to begin without delay.
The Phase-II extension of the Jaipur Metro spans a 42.80-kilometre corridor that will run from Todi Mode to Prahladpura. The route is designed to significantly enhance urban mobility by connecting key sectors of the city. The project will be executed under the banner of the Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation (RMRC), a newly formed joint venture between the Rajasthan state government and the Central government, with equal equity participation from both. RMRC will oversee not just this phase, but all existing and future metro undertakings within Jaipur.
The development of Phase-II was originally announced as part of the 2025-26 Rajasthan state budget, reflecting the government's continued commitment to improving urban transport infrastructure. The estimated cost of the project stands at approximately INR 12,260 crore. To fund the construction, loans will be secured through financial institutions, ensuring the project moves forward without compromising public finances.
Upon completion, the extended metro network will include a total of 36 stations, with two stations built underground. This infrastructure will not only alleviate traffic congestion but also provide a more efficient and eco-friendly transit option for the public. The route will traverse through several vital zones of the city, including densely populated residential localities, bustling commercial areas, prominent educational institutions, and major industrial sectors.
