The Maharaj Prithu Flyover in Guwahati is set to be inaugurated on March 10 by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The nearly 5 km-long flyover connects Ambari with Bamunimaidam and is expected to ease traffic congestion along the busy MRD Road corridor. Built largely using steel girders for faster execution, the project has faced delays due to land acquisition, utility shifting and traffic management challenges. Once operational, it is expected to improve travel time and connectivity across key residential and commercial areas of the city.Read more

Delhi has operationalised its first dedicated green waste processing plant near ITO to handle horticulture waste generated from road maintenance and public landscaping. The facility will process branches, shrubs and pruning residue into compost for reuse in government gardens and green belts. The move follows repeated complaints about waste piling up along roadsides. Similar units are being developed in multiple locations, and more are planned across districts. Authorities said the initiative will reduce dumping, cut transport costs and improve maintenance of public spaces.Read more

Southern Railway has introduced additional EMU shuttle services between Guduvanchery and St Thomas Mount to manage commuter inconvenience caused by revised suburban train operations linked to redevelopment work at Chennai Egmore station. The changes had reduced direct services on the busy Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpattu corridor, leading to crowding and longer travel time. Trial runs of the shuttle services were conducted successfully before rollout. Transport representatives have raised concerns over lack of consultation and suggested better coordination and more fast local services to reduce passenger inconvenience.Read more

Groundwork has started for a INR 1,200 crore e-methanol plant at Kandla Port in Gujarat, marking India's first port-based facility of this kind. The project is being developed by Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited in partnership with Deendayal Port Authority. The proposed unit will have a capacity of 150 tonnes per day and will come up on 150 acres of allotted land. The plant is expected to generate around 3,500 direct and indirect jobs and support the use of cleaner fuels in shipping and industry.Read more

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has completed a successful diesel locomotive trial on a 13.15 km rail link connecting its coach manufacturing unit at Kazipet, Telangana, to the Indian Railways network. The new track links the facility directly to Kazipet Railway Station, enabling seamless movement of finished coaches across zones. Spread over 160 acres, the Railway Manufacturing Unit is nearing commissioning next month. The project includes key shop installations and green features such as rooftop solar, rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient systems.Read more

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway will become fully operational by the end of this year, reducing travel time between the two cities to around two hours. The 260 km corridor is currently partially open. He also stated that the Delhi-Dehradun expressway is ready and has reduced travel time to two hours. The government plans to shorten the Delhi-Chennai distance by 320 km and is focusing on eco-friendly roads, hydrogen fuel stations, stricter action against erring contractors, and stronger highway connectivity with neighbouring countries.Read more

The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has opened a Maritime Heritage Museum in Tuticorin to showcase the city's long history as a trade hub, dating back to 123 AD. The museum highlights trade links, the evolution of shipping, and the legacy of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar, who opposed British shipping and established the Swadeshi Steam Navigation Company. Tuticorin has historically traded pearls and spices with Rome, China, and Southeast Asia. The Union Cabinet has approved a 3.33-kilometre extension of the North-South corridor of the Gujarat Metro that will connect GIFT City with Shahpur in Ahmedabad at an estimated cost of INR 1,067.35 crore. The decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24 February and marks a key expansion of the state's urban transport infrastructure. The elevated corridor will feature three new metro stations and is scheduled for completion in about four years. Government projections indicate daily ridership will reach around 23,700 passengers by 2029, rising to nearly 58,000 by 2041. The project, to be implemented by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC), is expected to improve connectivity between Ahmedabad's core city, the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and its surrounding commercial and educational hubs, while generating employment during construction and operations.Read more
